Admission to the Singapore Bar
Changes to Admission Requirements
The Ministry of Law has accepted in principle the recommendations of the Committee for the Professional Training of Lawyers on strengthening the professional training regime for lawyers in Singapore.
The key recommendations include:
-
uncoupling admission to the Bar from the completion of a practice training contract;
-
lengthening the practice training period from six months to one year; and
-
raising the standards and stringency of the Part B Bar Examinations.
UPDATE: For an overview of the implementation of the Committee’s recommendations as regards the admission regime, please see the Notice here.
