Admission to the Singapore Bar

To be admitted to the Singapore Bar, a person:

(1) must meet all the requirements of being a qualified person as defined in the Legal Profession Act 1966 read together with the Legal Profession (Qualified Persons) Rules; and 

(2) must also:

    1. have attained the age of 21 years;

    2. be of good character;

    3. have satisfactorily served the practice training period applicable to him;

    4. have attended and satisfactorily completed such courses of instruction as may be prescribed by the Board of Directors; and

    5. have passed such examinations as may be prescribed by the Board of Directors.

At present, the course of instruction referred to in 2(d) is the Preparatory Course leading to Part B of the Singapore Bar Examinations and the examinations referred to in 2(e) is Part B of the Singapore Bar Examinations.
