Qualified Person (Overseas Scheduled Universities)

Being a qualified person is a prerequisite to being admitted to the Singapore Bar. The Legal Profession (Qualified Persons) Rules set out the requirements for graduates from overseas scheduled universities to be qualified persons.

Part A

Completing and passing Part A of the Singapore Bar Examinations (the “Part A Bar Examinations”) is a requirement for graduates from Overseas Scheduled Universities (as listed under the Schedules to the Legal Profession (Qualified Persons) Rules) in order to be qualified persons.

Part B

Completing the Part B Bar Course and passing the Part B Bar Examinations is a requirement for admission as a Lawyer (NP).

A qualified person may be admitted as a Lawyer (NP) after they have attended the Part B Bar Course and passed the Part B Bar Examinations. A Lawyer (NP) may be admitted as an advocate and solicitor after serving a practice training period.

Practice Training Period

Completion of a 12-month practice training period is a requirement for admission as an advocate and solicitor.
