Part A

SILE conducts 2 sessions of the Part A Bar Examinations in a year. The Session 1 Examinations will be held in April/May while Session 2 Examinations will be held in October/November. Depending on whether you are a first-timer applicant or a re-taker, please apply to sit for the Part A Bar Examinations according to the application period stated in the table below.

Wait for the results. Candidates who fail will be given instructions on how to apply to re-sit the examinations during a separate application period.

 * Period in which online application will commence. Typically, online application for first-timer applicants lasts for 2 weeks.

First-Timer Applicants

Students who will only graduate after the application period may still submit their applications if they can obtain the degree certificates, official academic transcripts, ranking certification documents and university documents (if applicable) by March (for the Session 1 Examinations) or by September (for the Session 2 Examinations).  

Optional Part A Bar Course

The optional Part A Bar Course will typically commence in January each year, and it is only available to those sitting for the Session 1 Part A Bar Examinations. Course registration is a separate process and registration information will be made available to applicants who have been conditionally accepted to sit for the Session 1 Part A Bar Examinations.

Re-Takers from Past Sessions

Re-takers from past sessions who wish to sit for the Part A Bar Examinations must register by writing in to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. during the periods stated in the table above. This does not apply to candidates from the immediately preceding session. Separate instructions will be provided to these candidates.

Re-Takers from Immediately Preceding Session

Candidates who have just sat for the Part A Bar Examinations should wait for the results to be released. Those who fail the examinations will be given instructions on how to apply to re-sit the examinations during a separate application period.
