Admission to the Singapore Bar

The Hearing

Hearing dates for applications for admission as advocates and solicitors are fixed by the Registrar of the Supreme Court at least 60 days after the filing of the application. A "mass call" is usually held once a year on a date fixed by the Registrar of the Supreme Court. A Registrar’s Circular will be issued to notify applicants of this date.

Applicants are to adhere the following when preparing for AAS hearing:

  1. Applicants are not to self-represent at their own AAS applications. Save where a common mover is arranged (e.g., for monthly calls with larger cohorts or mass call), it is the applicant’s responsibility to obtain a mover.

  2. Applicants are to attend the AAS hearing in full Court attire with Court robe at hand. Applicants will be expected to dress appropriately, including the colour of the suit, blouse, shirt or tie that they are wearing in accordance with para 17 of the Supreme Court Practice Directions. Otherwise, the stakeholders will ask for the AAS application to be re-fixed to the next call date.
